Ford Motor Company – European highlights
- Ford of Europe’s best-ever second quarter – pre-tax profit of $467 million, a 190% improvement on last year
- First half pre-tax profit of $901 million – $782 million, or more than six times, better than in the first half 2015
- Second quarter was Ford’s fifth consecutive profitable quarter in Europe
- All Ford key metrics – except market share – improved sharply in the second quarter. Strong top-line growth, with wholesale volume up 11%; revenue up 16%.
- Operating margin 5.8 percent, up 3.5 ppts from a year ago
- Market share at 7.5% was down marginally as Ford continues to focus on healthier sales channels like retail, commercial vehicles and fleet, rather than participating in the growth of lower margin and brand-weakening business, such as dealer demonstrator and short-term rental channels
- Ford remains Europe’s No.2 top-selling brand for the first six months of 2016, and continues to lead the commercial vehicle market, achieving its best first half CV sales performance in its 20 traditional markets since 1993
- Ford high series models – Titanium spec models, Mondeo Vignale, Focus RS, Fiesta ST, Focus ST petrol and diesel, Fiesta and Focus Red/Black Editions – accounted for 60% of Ford car sales in the first half, up 3 ppts points on the same period last year
